Known for her creative and nonpartisan straight-shooting research, she has advised Fortune 500 companies as well as senior government leaders around the world, helping them manage geopolitical risk through creative analyses and intentional storytelling.
An experienced keynote speaker, Kathleen routinely speaks to audiences around the world, often weaving geopolitics and storytelling together to motivate positive change. She also hosts the "Smart Women, Smart Power" podcast that interviews the world's most powerful women.
She has authored over eighty publications, including solo authoring two books and contributing chapters to several multiauthor volumes. She has also provided expert commentary to outlets including The Atlantic, The Economist, the BBC, Al Jazeera, the Defense and Aerospace Report, the Financial Times, the Times (London), and the Voice of America.
She has worked in the Pentagon, the UK Parliament, and in think tanks on both sides of the Atlantic. Having earned her PhD in War Studies, she then served as the lead specialist for international security and defense issues for the United States Congress.
Kathleen is now a senior fellow in the Defense and Security Department and director of the Smart Women, Smart Power Initiative at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). She is a member of The Alphen Group.
